We are a small CFA registered cattery specializing in exquisite silver and golden Exotics and Persians. We are located approximately 300 miles north of San Francisco on the coast of northern California. The town of Blue Lake is 15 miles north east of Eureka on the Mad River. Founded in 1871 and named for a small lake created by perennial flooding of the river, Blue Lake is a sleepy little town with a historically rich past. Humboldt County is home to several wild and scenic rivers and an area of tremendous natural beauty. Although it's remote location presents a bit of a challenge in attending cat shows, this is a wonderful place to live, work and raise kitties. |

About Our Cattery
At Jade River we raise both Exotics and Persians. We believe that it is the responsibility of the breeder to improve the breed, always working in the animals best interest. With this goal in mind we carefully select for desired traits and work diligently to eliminate any faults. We breed for health and temperament as well as beauty. We are a PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) aware cattery and are currently DNA screening our cats for the PKD gene. We strive for that irresistible combination of blue-green eyes, a sparkling clear coat and the sweetest of expressions. Our ultimate goal is to produce show quality cats with the most treasured golden color. To that end, we have incorporated silver, golden and a select few solid cats into our breeding program. Our cats are descended from well known blood lines such as Kostalena, Fairisles, Echo Hill, Lime Ridge, Pahlewi, Mission Hill and Af Edal Loga. You may have noticed that only a handful of catteries around the world work with golden Exotics. This is due to the exceedingly difficult nature of this endeavor which most certainly is not for the faint of heart. |

Our cats roam freely about our home and are only confined when necessity dictates, such as during breeding season when the kitties honeymoon in private suites and while potty training toddlers. Our cats are socialized with the canine members of the family and can occasionally be seen sharing a snuggle with one of our gentle giants.
Jade River pet kittens are placed in carefully selected homes with a comprehensive health guarantee. Our cats and kittens are always spayed/neutered prior to placement. We also welcome inquiries from other catteries devoted to these rare and challenging colors.
